Lighting can help you create the Wow! factor you are looking for with your cellar.  Proper  selection
should provide you with lighting that is both functional and attractive. There should be ample lighting to
read labels, but not so much light that it increases the temperature of your cellar. Ultraviolet light, such
as that coming from a cellar window will have a long term effect on the aging of your wine. Where
possible, site selection should avoid in cellar windows which allow natural UV rays to enter.

Modern lighting selections include low voltage lighting, rope lighting and recessed lighting.
All are excellent choices for your new cellar.  Recessed lighting must be properly insulated and have a
vapor barrier behind it. The recessed lighting cans must be at least 18" to 20" from all walls to avoid
contact with the wine racking and minimize direct heating of bottles in proximity to the lighting. The
same rules apply to track and surface lighting. Wall sconces have also become very popular and work
well if you have wall surfaces that you are not planned for wine storage racking.

Let Custom Wine Cellars & Racks, LLC help you select the appropriate type and amount of lighting. We
will help you design your lighting to protect the valuable investment housed in your wine cellar.
